Our 6-week Beginner Gundog – Improver Course is the second half of our Beginner Gundog Training programme.
Beginner Gundog – Improver Course is suitable for dogs who have successfully completed one of our entry-level Beginner Gundog Foundation courses.
All courses are held in small groups. We use outdoor settings to teach real-life skills in the same environment your dog will ultimately need to use them.

Videos Demonstrating Every Exercise
To accompany the training, 
you will receive access to our Online Beginner Improver Course within our Gundog Training Academy.
The online material contains over 30 video demonstrations taking you, step-by-step, through every single training exercise we cover in the classes. There are also detailed notes with every training exercise should you need more information to support you.
The online content will provide you with a clear structure to follow in your training sessions at home.

This course culminates in the final week with a scored Beginner Gundog Fieldwork Test.
We will assess you and your dog versus specific criteria designed for their natural breed characteristics. There is a separate Fieldwork Test for Retrievers, Spaniels and HPR breeds*.
You are not in competition with other dogs. You 
and your dog just need to demonstrate the criteria to progress to the next level with either a Pass, Merit or Distinction based on your overall score. On passing the Beginner Gundog Fieldwork Test you will receive a certificate, exclusive silver colour-coded lanyard & rosette.
You will be assessed and scored in the following areas:
- Heelwork: (on-lead) 15-20 metres*
- Sit/stay: 30-60 seconds with owner at 15-20 metres*
- Recall Whistle/Command: 15-20 metres*
- Marked Retrieves: visible at 20 metres
- Steadiness: no running-in
- Hunting Pattern (hunting breeds only)*
